Baroque Violin By Remerus Liessem London 1751 Remerus Liessem worked in London, 1730-1760. He also made lutes and citterns.
The one piece back of maple of medium curl running horizontally across the back from the joint. The ribs, pegbox and scroll of similar curl.
The two piece front of pine of fine grain in the treble flank broadening towards the bass.
The varnish of a warm orange-brown colour on a yellow ground. Label Reads:

Original neck and inner dowel fixing, original bass bar and saddle.
Front: Bass f-hole wing crack running up from lower hole, treble f-hole wing crack running up from lower hole, small crack running up from upper hole.
Ribs: Upper bass rib, section towards neck replaced, lower bass small crack. Upper treble rib, small oval section inserted.
