Classical Violin Attributed Joseph Panormo C.1810 Eldest son of Vincenzo. Born at Naples, 1768. Worked in London at King Street, Soho. Died 1834.
The one piece back of maple of medium curl running horizontally across the back in the mid to upper half and slightly descending across the back from the bass down towards the treble in the lower half. The ribs, pegbox and scroll of similar curl.
The two piece front of pine of medium grain in the centre broadening towards the flanks.
The varnish of a rich warm orange-red colour on a yellow ground. Label Reads:

Front: Treble f-hole wing crack running up from the lower hole. Small crack beside saddle.
Back: Three circular wood infills below button and purfling.
