Viola By Gavin Macalister 1983 Gavin Macalister is originally from South Africa. He trained as a violin maker at Newark in the UK and spent many years working for the London violin shop Withers, eventually heading the workshop team. He can now be found at 'The Stringed Instrument Company' Auckland, New Zealand.
The two piece back of maple of faint irregular medium-broad curl. The ribs, pegbox and scroll of similar curll.
The two piece front of pine of medium grain in the centre broadening towards the flanks.
The varnish of a light amber orange-brown colour on a yellow ground. Label Reads:
