An excellent example by this established maker.
Didier Nicholas Aine was born at Mirecourt in 1757 and died there in 1833. As a maker he is known for the quality of his workmanship and for giving each of his violins its' own certain personality. This particular example dates from the later part of his career around 1820.
The violin has a one piece back of very nicely flamed maple, cut on the three quarter slab, of medium curl running horizontally across the back. The ribs, pegbox and scroll are all of similar wood.
The front is one piece pine of fine grain in the bass flank broadening towards the treble flank.
The varnish is in good condition with only minor wear consistent with age and is of a rich orange-brown colour on a yellow ground.
The Violin is branded on the inner back
