Violin Hugues Emile Blondelet, Mirecourt, C.1922. Lob 360mm. Hugues Emile Blondelet was born in 1875 and died in 1928. He joined Thibouville-Lamy in Mirecourt in 1890 at the age of 15, where his work rapidly became known for its excellent quality. The vast majority of Blondelet's work was based on either the Amati or Stradivarius pattern and his instruments are described as having considerable sonority.
This model dates from around 1922. It is based on the Stradivarius model and is an excellent example of his work.
The violin has a two piece maple back of a medium curl, ascending across the back from the joint, the ribs pegbox and scroll are of a similar wood.
The two piece front of pine is of medium-fine grain in the centre becoming broader towards the flanks.
The varnish is of a dark red-orange colour on a yellow ground. Label Reads:
