Violin By Otto Seifert, Berlin, 1908, 'neu-cremona' Otto Seifert was born in Markneukirchen in 1866 and studied under Bruckner. He was working in Berlin from 1896 where he made the majority of his violins using a system devised by Dr. Grossman. He is generally credited with producing instruments that display a very fine quality of workmanship.
This excellent example of his work was made in 1908.
The violin has a one piece back of maple with a strong medium curl slightly descending across the back from the treble down towards the bass. The ribs, pegbox and scroll are of a somewhat broader curl.
The two piece pine front is of a medium-fine grain in the centre broadening towards the flanks.
The varnish is an amber orange-brown colour on a yellow ground. Label Reads:
