Violin By Guiseppe Pellicani, Modena 1967. Guiseppe Pellicani was born in Modena in 1900. After studying with Bianchi in Nice and Arassi in Milan he started working at Gaggio di Piano in 1940. During the course of his career he won several key accolades for his work.
This example dates from 1967 and is typical of his workmanship. It has a two piece back of maple of a strong medium curl, slightly descending across the back from the joint. The ribs, pegbox and scroll of a similar curl.
The instrument has a two piece front of pine of medium-fine grain.
The varnish is a warm yellow-orange colour on a yellow ground. Label Reads:
