Violin By Franz Walter Jacob Stuttgart C.1925. Franz Walter Jacob was born in 1892 and worked in Berlin, Wiesbaden, Barmen and finally Stuttgart in 1933. He is renowned for producing excellent copies of old style instruments.
The example offered here has a one piece maple back of a medium curl running from the treble down towards the bass across the back. The ribs, pegbox and scroll are of a similar curl.
The violin has a two piece pine front of medium grain.
The varnish is a rich orange-brown colour on a yellow ground.
