Patrick Jowett graduated from the Newark School of Violin Making with distinction in 1980. Patrick feels that an instrument should have instant appeal both tonally and visually. It should excite the senses and, being an artistic statement of shape, contour and colour, possess its own personality. The example offered here ebodies this well and has a two piece maple back of a medium-broad curl descending across the back from the joint. The ribs, pegbox and scroll are of a similar curl. The violin has a two piece front of medium-broad grain pine. The varnish is an orange-red colour on a yellow ground.
