Violin By C F Schuster C.1900 Carl Friedrich Schuster worked in Markneukirchen between 1812 and 1864. The son of Johann Christian Schuster he is known for the good, neat quality of his workmanship and the responsive tonal quality of his instruments.
The violin offered here is a typical example, dating from around 1900, and has a one piece back of maple of a strong medium-broad curl descending across the back from the treble down towards the bass. The ribs are of a similar curl, the pegbox and scroll being of a somewhat fainter curl.
The instrument has a two piece pine front of a medium-fine grain.
The varnish is an orange-brown colour on a yellow ground. Label Reads:
