3/4 Violin By J.thibouville-lamy, Medio Fino, Mirecourt C.1900 Produced by J. Thibouville-Lamy who worked at both Mirecourt and Paris and was awarded medals in almost every country as well as being honoured with the Chevalier of the Legion of Honour ribbon in 1877. He was renowned for his technically innovative approach and the strong tone of the instruments produced.
This example is typical of those produced and has a two piece maple back of a plain wood . The ribs, pegbox and scroll are of a similar wood.
The violin has a two piece pine front with a medium-broad grain.
The varnish is an orange-red colour on a yellow ground. Label Reads:
