3/4 Violin By J Thibouville-lamy Mirecourt C.1900 Produced by J. Thibouville-Lamy who worked at both Mirecourt and Paris and was awarded medals in almost every country as well as being honoured with the Chevalier of the Legion of Honour ribbon in 1877. He was renowned for his technically innovative approach and the strong tone of the instruments produced.
The violin has a one piece maple back of plain wood. The ribs, pegbox and scroll are of a similar wood.
The instrument has a two piece pine front with a medium-broad grain.
The varnish is a rich red-orange-brown colour on a yellow ground. Label Reads:
